How does an Autism Assessment work?

Here is the structure of a typical Autism assessment with Lisa.

Phone / Zoom Discussion

We will arrange a time for Lisa to have a short chat with you to discuss what you are hoping to achieve with your assessment. In some cases, an assessment may not be the best solution to your goal. Regardless, Lisa will do her best to help you on the right path.

Booking

If both you and Lisa agree that an assessment would be in your best interest, you can proceed to book an assessment. Assessments take place over two mornings, one week apart.

Pre-Assessment Questionnaire and School Reports

There are some pre-assessment forms and questionnaires to be completed at least one week before the first appointment.  Lisa will also ask you if you have access to any school reports that you can bring along to your first appointment.

Day One – Week One

This first day is a semi-structured interview (less formal than it sounds!), which you are more than welcome to bring someone close to you along to - a partner, family member, friend, etc.

Questionnaires

After the first day, Lisa will email you some further questionnaires to complete at least two-days before you meet again.

Day Two – Week Two

The second day is a discussion about your life and history, to understand you a bit better.

Follow Ups (if required)

If Lisa has any further questions, she will follow up with you via phone, email, Zoom, or face-to-face – whichever you prefer.

Report Writing

After Lisa has all the information she requires, she will write a comprehensive report, detailing the outcomes of the assessment. The report will contain recommendations for further assistance/support, regardless of whether a diagnosis or diagnoses have been made.

Report Delivery / Feedback Appointment

A number of weeks after the first appointment, you will meet for Lisa to deliver the report to you and provide you with feedback from the assessment. At this appointment you can ask any questions you may have about the outcomes and/or the process.
